About LDI

The Leadership Development Institute (formerly the Johnson & Johnson Leadership Development Institute) was originally established on the East London Campus of Rhodes University in 1988.

From its inception until 1995, the LDI’s primary focus was centered around a number of social action projects such as: Junior Rugby Development, Academic Support Programmes, Fine and Performing Arts Programmes, Tennis development and a Junior Leadership Development Programme.

Celebrating its 20th year of existence in 2008, the LDI has undergone a significant shift in its modus operandi.

After a 19-year association with Rhodes University which came to an end in 2007, the LDI now has full accreditation through the ETDP SETA and is in the final stages of aligning its skills programmes to Services SETA Unit Standards. Once complete, the LDI will be even better equipped to address the chronic skills shortage in the Eastern Cape, as a fully-fledged independent training provider.

The Institute which operates as a Section 21 Company, is well placed to offer Organisations a complete solution to the Training challenges. As a credible and accredited provider, the LDI prides itself on the delivery of high quality, aligned programmes which are facilitated in a professional environment which is conducive to adult learning.

The LDI has the necessary expertise to assist organisations with competency assessments and will also be introducing new offerings which include a wide range of short skills workshops as well as Assessor and Moderator Training.
